Library Globe
The cartography and artwork have been produced to reflect an ever changing world but delivered in a classic style to resemble a British library globe from the 19th Century. They incorporate the most recent changes to political boundaries and up to date name changes. As with all of the globes in our collection they have been produced using the same materials and techniques as they would’ve been in the heyday of British globemaking, a papier mache sphere is skimmed with plaster and sanded smooth to form the perfect surface to which the map is then applied. Shellac and lacquer form a perfect hard wearing finish to these exquisite floor standing globes. The brass work has been given a light age in keeping with the aesthetic of the cartography. Both stands are recycled walnut sourced from a local boatyard, giving a new life to wood that has already journeyed around the world. Delivery to Mainland UK inclusive.
